About the Campaign
Each week, members of the Touch A Heart team teach Growth Mindset classes to students at Olomana School on the Hawai‘i Youth Correctional Facility (HYCF) campus in Kailua. Adapted with storytelling, video, and reflection, these sessions make the youth feel seen, heard, and valued.
Apprentice Joseph, who shares similar life experiences, builds trust through honesty and presence. Chef-Trainer Curtis, formerly incarcerated himself, offers guidance and hope for what’s possible.
According to the Crisis to Opportunity: Building Hawaiʻi’s Workforce Resilience report by the Hawai‘i Workforce Funders Collaborative, 170,000 youth will enter Hawai‘i’s workforce in the next decade, but nearly 30% will face limited career opportunities. Without support, the youth we serve today may not be counted among them as they face greater risks of incarceration, addiction, and homelessness.
We began this work with no funding, knowing in our hearts that it was the right thing to do. Now, with your help—and a generous $10,000 matching gift—we can sustain and grow this life-changing partnership.
Together, let’s plant seeds of transformation.
